Introduction
H07RN8 are water resistant cables with EPR insulation and a polychlorine or synthetic rubber sheath. As these cables are only suitable for up to 10 m water depth and 40 °C water temperature Nexans has developed RHEYWELL® submersible cables with higher demands for the particular use in drinking water and sewage. Extensive tests with our RHEYWELL® cables confirmed their very good electrical long-time characteristics with regard to insulation resistance as well as dielectric strength, and also the excellent mechanical features of the insulating and sheathing compounds. Their suitability for permanent use in water has been proven with that (see DIN VDE 0298, part 3). For use in drinking water, Nexans modified the respective compounds. They are distinguished by the use of exquisite and approved compound parts. The suitability of the materials is documented by a test certificate, issued by ”Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung (BAM)” (Federal Office for Material Research and Testing). Nexans holds expert evidence including manufacturing audit by VDE-Prüfstelle (VDE Testing Office).
